I have a friend who hated the book because she didn't like Anya, but I loved it partly because I think, in real life, I wouldn't have liked Anya much, but in seeing her world through her brain, I was able to appreciate who she in a way I wouldn't be able to in real life. I definitely want my daughter to read it, around age 14, but other parents may differ. The kids love this story about Ali "the cat in Riyad", and I found the tale highly amusing myself.
