Inspiration abounds; the night I got the book I was so inspired by it that my mind felt like it was going to explode with possibilities and I ended up finally getting out of bed at 2:30am to jot down my ideas so I could get some sleep. A beautiful and unique book about five generations of the author's family, with amazing insight about why family members do what they do,how they handled adversity and change and navigated the trials and joys of their amazing and sometimes heart-breaking experiences. Many view him as a right wing enthusiast, especially former classmate Senator Bailey Beauregard Bates, but a few join in with Kent's plan to Escape to Haven. Hard to put down once started. We've seen them in concert twice. From New England to the Caribbean, the Carolinas to Africa, Iroquoia to India, Protestant missions relied on long-forgotten native evangelists, who often outnumbered their white counterparts. If companies were willing to supply the data for such an evaluation or were compelled to in lawsuits the "Diversity Dodge" would be a thing of the past. In short, people who like the warm, family books by other Southern writers like Anne Rivers Siddons and Dorothea Benton Frank will like this book by Virginia McCullough.

It is transparent in showing the path of pain, but it also reveals the provision of God's grace when nothing else could help. While the story was birthed in the loss of a precious and honorable life, it moves through the sorrow to a level of regained hope.
