My teenage younger sister really enjoyed reading this book. I enjoyed reading it and was motivated to further explore the topic when I finished the book. The book was longer than I anticipated, and didn't focus on the mystery as much as I expected. I found Erika’s search for a cure and disgust with the effects of chemotherapy believable. Relatable examples, accessible text, and a creative design challenge help readers discover the properties of light waves and their essential role in seeing our world. While slightly classier, using Shakespeare isn't likely to do the trick either. Once we had both read this book it was like a lightbulb went off where we realized that all parents expecting their second child wonder how they could possibly have that same amount of love a second time, and that every one else gets through it so we would too.
